Reflexology is known as a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in one’s feet, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, Reflexology improves circulation, relieves tension, and helps to enhance the natural function of the associated organ or area of the body. Reflexology aids in relaxation and helps to balances tensions. It reduced stress bringing the client into a parasympathetic mode or that also is known as the ''rest and digest'' mode. It improves circulation and helps the body to normalize itself naturally without negative side affects that usually take place after use of medicine. Reflexology breaks up deposits of toxic by-products. Each foot has over 7000 nerve endings with wide-ranging interconnections through the spinal cord and brain with all parts of the body. Through the techniques applied on these pathways Reflexology allows the body systems to maintain an internal balance of ''homeostasis''.
Before my Reflexology treatment starts, you will be asked to fill out a health history form to ensure that your treatment is tailored to your needs and modified for safety if necessary, then we will create and discuss the treatment plan. During the treatment you will be lying with your feet hanging slightly off the edge of the table. Throughout the treatment I will ask you if you find the pressure comfortable, if at any time you would like to receive more or less pressure I will accomodate. If there is any sensitivity in an area of your foot, it may be a sign that that area has a blockage and needs to be treated. This does not in any way need to be uncomfortable for the client. Reflexology is meant to be a relaxing experience. Communication with your practitioner will ensure this. For a first apointment please come a few minutes early to fill out your medical history.
